The serenade of spring
The love new life will bring
Blossom on the trees
Fragrance on the breeze
Spring season is coming, and this reminds me of my very first (and still the only) cherry blossom experience. Not in Japan, not in South Korea (next year, I do hope!) but in Taiwan~
After autumn, spring is really such a beautiful season for me. It was cold that we could (fashionably) wear coats, but not too cold that we'd be freezing. I srsly wish to experience it again— obviously, I can't catch it this year, but I'd love to try spring next year!
But what matters this time is the country. While SK is top of my list, I still want to go back to Taiwan during spring! Hopefully the visa free that expires this July 2024 would still be extended. Because I'd love to visit Taiwan during autumn too 🍁
Well, here I go sharing these cherry blossom spots I researched in the past that you might want to add to your spring itinerary 🌸
Taipei: CHIANG KAI-SHEK MEMORIAL HALL
For sure this is part of your itinerary already, but there's an area there you shouldn't miss!
So with your back against the Memorial Hall, walk down the steps then go left. Just follow the path to this park and nothing more to say, you will see cherry blossom trees 🤩
It's perfect because it's just in Taipei, and nearby the tourist spots like the Memorial Hall and Liberty Square, among others. Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall also has its own metro station so it's totally accessible!
I still can't believe I took these photos 🤭 (This also makes me think to use a real camera again istg but as a solo traveler right now, the phone + tripod setup alone is hard...)
Taichung: TAIAN POLICE STATION
Now if you're going on a Taichung tour— Rainbow Village, Zhongshe Flower Market — why not drop by yes, a local police station 😅
This is supposing you're commuting or renting a car/driver (We did thru ownrides.com!).
You might think it's only a police station, but when we went, there were a lot of locals and tourists alike posing for photos. Exhibit A:
I was hesitant when we arrived.. Especially as the person who planned everything, of course I wanted to show a nice place. And thankfully it didn't disappoint!
Oh how I want to see these pretty flowers again and again 😍
Taichung: WULING FARM
We're going far away from Taipei now, but if you have the time, money and energy, go and visit Wuling Farm. We availed this Wuling Farm day tour from Klook and went just in time for Cherry Blossom Festival.
We left Taipei at 8am then arrived by noon— that far! But there was a stopover halfway + the tour already has lunch so that's a nice inclusion 👍
During the tour, we were the only foreigners though, so the guide mostly talk in Taiwanese. Like, everyone else was laughing while us: 👀
But the guide did approach us and talked to us in English, and he guided us to photo spots and where the lunch area was.
It's a big, big farm so be ready to walk, stop and take photos! I wasn't totally into videos that time, but I'm glad I was able to take some videos and form it into this vlog. So you can see below how Wuling Farm looks like~
